The Havana trip was such an incredible experience! Between the lessons with our Cuban instructors, the cultural immersion, and dancing every night, the whole week was full of laughter and love.
Kim did an excellent job organizing the trip and kept everyone safe and informed. A couple of highlights included the tour around Havana riding in the Cuban classic cars and spending a week with an amazing group of Canadians and Cubans. The dance lessons challenged me and added Cuban flair to my dancing style. I am excited to apply what I learned in the lessons to my dancing back home.
This trip is about more than just dancing - it is about connection, love, and learning to appreciate the small things in life. My heart is very full after this week in Havana and I will definitely be returning to Cuba on this trip in the future!

This was my first Havana Trip and I plan for it to be only the 1st of many many more. While I have travelled to Cuba before, this trip provided so much more of a personal connection to Cuba, its culture, and its people!
Being new to Salsa Dancing I was going into this trip very much a "newbie". My lack of skills was never an issue and my fellow dancers and teachers were so encouraging and patient. My partner was always encouraging me and making me feel safe to just let go, relax, and have fun while learning so much.
The skill, time, and effort Kim puts into this trip is incredible. She is doing so much in the background to ensure this trip is a life changing experience for everyone involved.
I thank Kim for putting this trip together. While it is something I am sure I will not be able to fully explain, the love in my heart I have after this trip will be something I never forget.

"This was my first trip with Saskatoon Salsa to Cuba. The trip was very well organized and an amazing cultural experience. It is difficult to put into words how amazing this trip was. You experience dance, music, and Cuban culture all while enjoying a break from the cold weather in Canada! While on this journey of dance, you make many new friends, and you feel like part of the Cuban family. The Cuban people are so kind, and the life lessons learned on this trip are about being part of a larger community, sharing when you have nothing, and the joy of music and dance. The entire experience touches your soul and provides you with an immense sense of joy. I cannot stop dancing when I hear the Latin beat, it has become a part of me now! This was my first trip to Cuba and also my first time to this event! The love and excitement from the Cuban team was incredible. It started off with a meet and greet, and the Cubans took it from zero to two hundred miles an hour with ease! I’ve never felt so welcomed before by everyone involved! The atmosphere was amazing! You learn quickly, and always with expert knowledge and guidance! The event was top notch and the planning and love Kim puts into this is unbelievable. She truly is a blessing!❤️

I have just retuned from the Havana dance excursion with Saskatoon Salsa.
I have been on the trip multiple times and just when you think it can’t possibly get any better, Kimberly somehow makes it happen.
This trip is MAGICAL!
A week long adventure in beautiful Havana, filled with dance, laughter, new adventure, great food, and beautiful friendships.
The trip is extremely well organized, with so many great outings.
I look forward every morning to getting up and having breakfast with my friends, then going to dance class where we are greeted with open arms by our wonderful Cuban partners. The classes are exhilarating, and designed for every level!
Highlights of the trip for me included a fun beach day, an evening of rooftop dancing under the stars, beautiful restaurants and exploring the beauty of Havana.

Cuba was the best experience I have ever had in my entire life. I love to dance but dancing is so much more in Cuba, it’s so passionate and loving, exciting and raw. I learned to dance but I learned so much more than that. There is a love in life that is only found in Cuba. From dance lessons in the morning to relaxing pool afternoons and social dancing at night, it was all perfect. Everyone on this trip was so kind and wonderful. Kim organized everything so well and every single Cuban I met opened me with opened arms and had me confidently speaking Spanish! I am grateful to feel apart of the family in Cuba. "This was my second time attending the Cuba Dance Trip with Saskatoon Salsa, and I swear each time it gets better and better. Not only did I get to strengthen my dance skills and practice social dancing, but seeing my friends from the previous year & making new friendships this year was so valuable to me. The Cuban dancers are so warm, welcoming, funny & talented people to learn and dance alongside. I have made lifelong friendships with many of them and with the new Canadian dancers who attended this year as well.

Wow! Where does one even start to describe what an incredible trip going to Cuba with Kimberly and Saskatoon Salsa was? I was new to Cuba and “newish” to dancing so I was seeing it all through the eyes of learning something new, experiencing something new and creating new relationships with Cuban friends there with and with Canadian friends here. It has changed me in a forever way.
Between all the extreme planning from Kimberly and partnering with her amazing Cuban team, every detail was accounted for. We had dance lessons everyday, historical excursions, welcome and farewell parties, and nights out dancing. We were able to witness all the hard work that Kimberly has done to cultivate the relationships in order to create this experience- it is like no other trip. We were immersed into the beautiful culture of our dance partners and the instructors we met and instantly were welcomed as “familia”.
So if you’re considering going on this trip, I encourage you to take the step, be open to learning and growing and I can promise you, you will never regret it. This is my first trip but I can promise it won’t be my last.

"The 2025 Havana Saskatoon Salsa Dance Company trip was my fifth time attending. Every year I see something new and expand my dance style. Who would have thought that starting as a beginner my first trip, I would be where I am today. You are never too old to learn a new talent, as Kimberly always encourages!
Now, a little bit about why I join this trip often, and why someone new may want to consider what this trip has to offer: the Havana dance week is full of well-organized lessons, excursions, and just all-around fun. This year’s trip there were many new people, which I loved seeing through their eyes for the first time and experience the dance and cultural opportunity with us.
Again, this year we were fortunate to enjoy many new excursions but always finding something new to explore at and excursion we may have been on before. The week was filled with daily Salsa Lessons, a Classic Car Tour, Rooftop and Mojitos at the Hotel Plaza, exploring Old Havana, Partying with the Locals (Dancers), eating at so many amazing restaurants, and much more.
For myself, the best part of this trip would have to be the lasting friendships formed each year, and the warm welcome we receive each time we arrive. Even though life isn’t easy for people living in Cuba, our dance partners are so positive and happy and enjoy life, and show us how easy it is, with very little, to cherish each others company/community and just have fun dancing, and along with doing charades trying to communicate when we don’t have google translate handy. This is one on my favorite parts of the newly formed friendships."

What made my last trip especially memorable was seeing it through the eyes of those visiting for the first time. It’s incredibly hard to put into words, but witnessing their courage and excitement as they experience each moment is something truly special.
Beyond the unforgettable cultural immersion, this trip is also about connection—both with our Cuban instructors and with each other. The bonds we form extend far beyond the trip itself, strengthening our dance community in so many ways. We return home not only with a deeper connection to each other but also with an extra "Cuban" flair in our dancing, one that only those who have been part of this trip can truly understand. I cannot recommend this trip enough, and I am so grateful for Kim and her team for making it happen.

Feels like a fever dream now that I’m back in Saskatoon! The trip flew by and was way more than I ever imagined—so much to learn, experience, and absorb!
From the stunning architecture and delicious food to the instructors and fellow dancers, everything was incredible.
Big shoutout to my partner, Surdo—so respectful, kind, and made me feel completely safe. I’m a slow warmer, so I hope I didn’t come off the wrong way! I’d love to be paired with him again. I didn’t get a private lesson in, partly because I was tired and partly unsure where to start—but now I’ve got ideas!
The energy during training, the live music, and the history shared by Enrique made the experience so rich. I especially loved the little history lessons—it deepened my appreciation even more.
Also, I really need to learn Spanish 😂 I felt like I missed out on connecting with some of the instructors, though charades definitely kept things fun!

I have been to Cuba many times, and no trips compare to the experience I have had with Saskatoon Salsa. If you are looking for the typical tourist week lounging on the beach and sipping drinks, this trip isn’t for you. If you crave genuine connections with both Canadian and Cuban people, want to learn from the world’s best dancers, and are ready to give back to the Cuban community as much as you receive, then this IS the trip for you.
From the moment you commit to the trip, Kim and her staff are working for you to make sure you have the best week possible. Every detail is taken care of, and for a group of 60 people that is no small task! You are fully free to immerse yourself in the experience and it is so refreshing.
This isn’t a vacation, it’s a life-changing opportunity to embrace the richness of Cuban culture, dance, and the incredible people that live there. It is so hard to put into words, but every time someone new joins the trip, they realize that when we come home and say it was “life-changing”, we really mean it! Cuba 2024 trip with Saskatoon Salsa was beautifully organized and full of wonderful people, both instructors and participants. Previously, I heard several people say this trip was a great experience. And their recommendations were so true! This trip was such an amazing time, it's hard to put into words. The trip was well organized. Every morning we had dance lessons for 3 hours. The afternoon was typically free time to visit by the pool or tour around Havana. In the evening events were optional yet for me was a highlight... going out to Cuban nightclubs and dance parties. I also enjoyed getting to know my dance community more, as well as the Cuban instructors. What makes this trip special is the exchange of friendships and culture over a shared love of dance. I liked knowing that I was supporting people in need (instructors and their families), and now have a better understanding of the beautiful and challenging reality of life in Cuba, meanwhile dancing every day with the people who live through those realities. What did I learn in dancing? Among many things, it was to smile more, think less, and just feel the music on the dance floor. I would highly recommend this trip!

I had been thinking about this trip for a long time, but I always felt like it was out of my price range and too much of a “scheduled trip.” When I finally bought into the idea of investing in a once in a lifetime trip, and one that was solely all about dance, I was able to make the commitment.
And let me say, I am SO grateful that I did. During my first full day of being in Havana, I could see that every penny I invested was coming back to me 10-fold. It’s true that the schedule is full on, but that’s because there is so much to experience, and Kim and her partner do everything possible to make this an unforgettable trip.
The amount of planning, passion and intention Kim puts into this trip is mind blowing and awe inspiring. The dance partners and instructors create this beautiful learning space full of love, admiration, and culture, where you can’t help but stand in awe of the magic happening in front of your eyes.
You build fast friendships not only with those from the studio, but the Cubans who share their love for dance and friendship.
My favourite day had to be going down to Old Havana with our Cuban friends and dancing at all of the different bars to live salsa musicians. The energy was incredible and the social dancing unforgettable!
As a fairly advanced Latin dancer (competitor for the last several years), I gained so much technique, knowledge and dance experience on this trip. 10/10 would recommend everyone who’s ever loved salsa dancing to take this trip.

Kim and I have been friends since we were 5 years old. I am not a dancer at all but have been to several SSDC events. Kim has gushed about her trips to Cuba in the past, so I finally decided to join and am extremely happy I did. I am brand new to Salsa- even though the Cuban instructors were experienced, they were very patient with me, and super fun! The trip was very organized, excursions were already planned, and we were all well taken care of. My heart is so full from all of the memories and new friendships I made.

I am so grateful to have invested in this trip because it was truly one of the best weeks of my life. I will always be grateful for this week of learning, rediscovering the passion of dance, and being surrounded by a big group of absolutely, beautiful people who love to dance and laugh.
I learned about salsa, rumba, mambo, cha cha, and other dance styles. I was paired with a wonderful human being and dance teacher who had patience to teach me all that I needed to learn: to dance, to relax, to have fun, to think less and just feel the music more. I cannot believe how much I learned during 1 week when it came to dancing salsa and releasing old thought patterns and habits.
This dance trip truly was a game-changer for me and it reignited my desire to dance and to keep investing in myself and what makes me live big, laugh big, think big, believe big and love big. This week was just one marvellous opportunity to decorate my life with dance.

"This is our second time travelling to Havana with Kim for week of Salsa dance instruction by amazing dancer leaders. We were your usual all inclusive travellers but were finding we were not seeing the countries and all they have to offer the way we wanted to. Resorts are beautiful to go to, but it doesn’t show the real beauty of a country. This year we feel very blessed to part of the group of participants that travelled to Havana this year for dance instructions. All we can say is they were an amazing group of people and felt like family within the first day of travel. We looked forward to the morning breakfast at the hotel catching up with everyone and talking about our day ahead.
Now we need to mention that Kim is an excellent leader who really knows and loves Cuba! She has made dance friends, both small town residents and others in Havana Cuba. Kim ensures that the best dance instructors are paired up with all who have taken the journey from Saskatoon to Cuba for this dance experience.
During the week besides salsa dance instructions, arrangements to visit the dance clubs at night to see live and very famous Cuban bands, late night dinners at amazing restaurants, daytime tours of Old Havana, a beach afternoon and artist area visit are just a few of the items to mention of the overall amazing week of experiences.

"Dinners, beach time, night clubs, and so many laughs. I had not had this much fun on consecutive days for years. If ever? Our nights out were full of music, movement, laughter, and connection. The only thing better than a night of dancing in a Cuban club, is when there is an absolutely incredible band to accompany it. We enjoyed the musical stylings of Pupy y Los que Son, Son, Alain Perez, and a pile of local artists doing their thing. There was a feeling of electricity in the air everywhere we went.
I was so proud of myself for putting my desires and my health at the top of my list and taking this much-needed adventure to replenish my soul. And it was a wonderful reminder to always come back to my roots. Dance was my first passion - before I could even walk - and dance always brings me back to my center."
